Hi,

I had a difficult upper left second molar root canal done back in June and it's never really felt fully okay since.
Its mainly pain free for 95% of the day, but I still get occasional aches in the tooth for that 5% of the time.

I actually went a good 4-6 weeks recently where it was pretty much pain free, but it's flared back up in the last week or so.
I'm meant to have it crowned in about 2 weeks, but I'm reluctant to have it crowned whilst it's not pain free.
I do grind and clench my teeth more than I'd like, could that be causing a flare up in pain in a root canalled tooth?
Should I still go ahead and get it crowned even though it's not pain free?
My dentist still wants to crown it despite the pain, but he's not the one paying for it on a tooth that might need to be extracted soon after.
Thanks

Yes.
Have there been any recent x-rays to check the RCT is looking OK?

@Gordon

I had an xray at the start of October and no signs on any obvious problems.
Think im going to ask for another xray before Im meant to get it crowned in a few weeks.

I can eat on it with no pain, it doesn't hurt to tap on or to push on. Just this occasional ache that comes and goes, which I hope it's just from me grinding on it too hard. So far today it's been pain free, but I've probably jinxed myself now.

I'm having a similar issue but with the actual crown.
