Third Set Of Teeth?

Hi everyone, I recently posted about my worries with the dentist but something has me weirded out this time. So I went to see an emergency dentist in November time I had my lower left molar removed and the socket healed well. Well recently, I've been having something similar to teething pain and today I've noticed a small tooth like thing appear out of my gums. It's not food, it's unmoveable and quite sharp. Yet I thought you only had two sets of teeth is a third molar unheard of?!

yes, usually there are just two sets of teeth. We have a post about bone fragments in our FAQ. Does it sound like what you are experiencing?

Most likely a bone fragment. I did have five extra wisdom teeth, but that is really rare. Mine showed up on x rays, and when I was having my wisdom teeth surgically removed, the oral surgeon removed the extras (which were much smaller) also. Then I had another one pop up on an x ray a few years ago. It was removed this summer. They are called supernumary teeth.
