Unable to eat with immediate denture HELP

2 weeks a ago today I had 14 extractions and an immediate upper denture. My only natural teeth are bottom front center 8 of them so I have no bottom teeth yet to chew with. I will get my partial when I get my perm denture in a few months. My big problem is no matter what I try to eat or drink soup, pudding etc. after about the 3rd bite the food works its ways under the denture and loosens the adhesive (powder) to the point that the denture will just about fall out. So I am unable to eat anything unless I take my teeth out and put it in a food processor. This means I can't eat while at work or out anyplace. HELP any suggestions? My husband and I are suppose to be going on an outing this Friday to EPCOT center (a Disney park) I won't be Be able to walk around all day with no food or drink.

Hi Hun, just wanted to drop a line and wish you well xx hope the food seal idea is one that appeals and works for you if you try it xx maybe some type of build up drink in shake form would help see you through your day out and some energy drinks, hope you have a lovely day out

The powder fixatives are pretty rubbish, try some of the cream ones. Fixadent is the current best one here in the UK, don't know if you can get it in Florida. Sometimes the denture gets more stable as the sockets heal a bit, so it might improve over the next few days.

EPCOT is boring anyway, I like SeaWorld better

Just wanted to let you all know that I went back to the dentist today (all by myself) and they decided to do the soft reline now because of how big my denture had become. I am wearing them with NO ADHESIVE!! I will have to get used to this feeling as they feel really weird now that they fit lol. I was told I really won't be Ble to eat much with these, but once I get the permanent ones then It will be much better. So. I must be patient And remember that Rome was not built in a day.
I still can't believe I have been able to drive and go to the dentist myself the past 2 times. I guess it's much easier to see the dentist when all I have to do is hand him my teeth.lol. nevertheless it was a big step for me.

i am so happy you got your reline and you are feeling ready to hit the Epcot centre,
laughing at your description of handing your teeth over to the dentist because that is exactly what I said to my hubby I will be able to give them to him and he can give me them back when he is done

Although I don't want to lose my teeth, this is my perfect appointment, where you can just hand the dentist your teeth

I also was able to eat half of a piece of chocolate mousse cake . Funny I never thought I would get excited about being able to eat a bowl of soup lol The cake on the other hand was good enough to get excited over teeth or not lol

Yay!! So glad you had a lovely day and you managed to find something to eat too, and a choice, choc cake or soup and managed some of each xx tiny steps will get you there xxx

It is amazing that no matter what ever else we struggle with, a good wedge of chocolate cake can always be managed you have got my mouth watering.
