Hi All,
Can you please tell me which you would recommend a porcelain or acrylic denture? If anyone has a porcelain denture can you please post pictures. I really would like to go with a porcelain denture because they look more like your natural teeth but every dentist I am talking to is talking me out of the porcelain and telling me that acrylic is better. Thanks

remember it is not what others think it is what u think and if u want porcelain then go for it but find out y the dentist thinks that

beth, I found this reply from a dental technician to someone who was asking the same question:

I assume when you ask about porcelain versus acrylic, you are speaking of the composition of the denture teeth-- not the entire denture, which is predominantly made of acrylic. In fact, this is why I prefer acrylic to porcelain teeth: acrylic teeth bond far more effectively to the acrylic base, and they are less apt to detach from the denture. Acrylic teeth are indistinguishable visually from porcelain teeth, they are less likely to "click" while chewing or speaking, and are kinder to the opposing teeth. For these reasons, there is little to recommend porcelain teeth these days.
