Hey guys, been a little over a week since my surgery. I am getting my stitches out this Friday. The top two came out ok, but the lower two were a different story. The bottom right took quite some time to get out according to my Oral Surg. so the recovery has been a little longer than I expected. Any discomfort though is being controlled by basic IBUPROPH. and that is not really needed. Here is my question though....

On my lower right jaw, right above where my wisdom tooth was cut out, a bump has developed. It is not an abnormal color(it is the exact same color as my gums), it does not hurt to touch and is not oozing anything. I have called the office and let them know what I saw and they do not seem to be too concerned with this. I am though. I know it was not there before the surgery so could this be a result from the difficult extraction? I am on antibiotics. Just looking to see if anyone else has any experience with this. Thanks a million- Luke

It's just a wee stray tag of skin that's forming during the healing process. Forget about it.

Hey Lukas, good times, eh? haha. I feel like every day it's something new. I don't feel much pain anymore per sai but now it's weird discomfort where I think the holes are healing. Every time I eat I just want to run home and brush up and mouth rinse and syringe out the holes!

I wonder how long it takes the gums to typically heal up.

I had extractions done over 2 months ago and there are still small holes :)It takes some time. Now the ones I had stitched up are all healed.

2 months! Were they wizzies?

I just wonder how long until I'll really be able to eat without thinking 'I need to clean out my holes!!'

I bought a very small dental kit, the size of a pocket knife that you can carry in your pocket that has many tools, one of them being a really soft brush(almost like a pipe cleaner) that gently gets those bits of food out. I cannot wait to get these stitches out.... I actually ate a hamburger today [smiley=jumping.gif] What a rough week this has been. The funny thing is, the surgery was the easiest part. Who would of thunk that one???

i had dissolving stitches and I guess he didn't put many in. But I just found one more stitch that I will ask to be taken out next I see him. I'm now taking my syringe to work, lol.

1 of mine was a wizzie the rest were not. I kept mine cleaned out until they gotpast that yucky looking stage and then i didnt worry about it too much.
