I was thinking about this the other day and just wondering. IF a person were to say get all there teeth removed, and get full blown inplants, with brushing and flossing, and some common sense they could never get a cavity, cracked tooth, etc again on the implants right? logically it seems to make sense. I mean if they brushed n flossed and took care of there gums, which seems to be eazy, then they could not get the majority of tooth problems like erosion and the like right?

In theory, outside of what it does to the rest of the body, a person could eat almost anything or drink gallons of soda or what ever and avoid dental issues right? Or would it still affect the implants too?

Just wondering.

Btw i have a checkup with a new dentist for next wensday morning. Everything should be fine as i brush and floss religiousley and I'm on low carbs (lost 160 plus pounds) and eat very low amounts of sugar and drink water...idk what elese i can possably do to prevent cavaties lol outside of getting all my teeth replaced with implants which i admit is a bit drastic (and expensive)

Hello,
I'm assuming implants wouldn't decay but you would still have to take excellent care of your gums..Sounds like a good plan if not for the expense....LOL

You are partially correct. No worries about tooth decay and weakening fragile teeth. However you can get peri-implantitis.
Costs are rather high could easily exceed 50,000++

porcelain isn't as strong as enamel (unless your teeth are falling apart it's not an improvement on nature). You're reliant on the skill of the technician and the dentist. Implants are reliant on underlying bone being healthy. Not all implants take, some fail. Implants are not placed for each missing tooth, but support bridgework if all teeth are missing. Porcelain can chip and gums can recede over time. Nothing lasts forever, but they have found natural teeth preserved in fossils of jawbones. I'd be curious as to whether porcelain would last as long.

Welcome back Yourbigpalal - I remember you!
I now have a single implant and it is great but it is not better than a natural tooth (even a filled one). If your teeth are soundly in your jawbone as I believe all yours are and not loose then you do not need an implant or implants.
Nothing is as good as your natural tooth but if you do have to lose a natural tooth, then an implant is the best solution dentistry can currently offer and is likely better than a crown or partial since it preserves your bone structure by being embedded in the jaw.

No ethical dentist should remove sound teeth because you would prefer to not have to worry about decay...think about it, an implant is your 'go to' solution should you lose your teeth from decay but you won't if you get regular basic dental care.

Longevity of implants themselves also depends on your homecare just like for your teeth - you still need regular cleans....it is absolutely not a solution to dental anxiety /phobia. Remember even with false teeth you still have to visit the dentist from time to time.

Find a dentist/hygienist you like and trust and attend regularly, brush and floss once a day and leave it at that. Relax. Congrats on the weight loss.
