Hi There! I went to the dentist 3 years ago and got everything fixed up and done. Now, it's 3 years later and I have, what I feel, is a large build up of tartar on one of my back teeth. I have a cleaning scheduled for tomorrow to get that fixed. When I look at my other teeth, I don't see anything other then tartar build up. I have not always been good at brushing my teeth or flossing. I am so scared I will go into there and need extreme work done. I have benefits now and that is why I am going in. I am nervous that there will be large problems. I do not feel pain very often, if ever. My one back tooth looks like it is a bit grey/black but could be tartar build up. I am scared that the dentist will judge and that she hasn't seen anything this bad. My other fear is that I will need to loose my teeth. They don't look like they are very bad but I am scared. I am only 25 years old and don't want to loose my teeth. I am not embarrassed by my front teeth as they are not bad looking, they are pretty straight, they have a bit of plaque on them, but otherwise seem to be good. I am just worried I will go into there and everything will be wrong. What can I do to try and ease my nervs? I want to get this dealt with and if I need dental work done, I want to catch it before it gets to bad, now that the dental coverage is available to me! But I cant seem to make my nervs go away!

Hi try not to get too worked up about going to the dentist. Once they have given your teeth a good clean they will be able to see what the condition of your teeth is. The dentist has seen that many people and your teeth are not the worst he will be seeing. They are not there to judge you or tell you off.

The important thing is that you are in a position now to get your teeth sorted and that is a good thing. Explain to the dentist that you are feeling nervous and they will understand and make you feel as comfortable as they can. If not leave and find one that will.

All the best to you, let us know how you get on please :butterfly:

Thank you very much! I hope I am getting worked up for nothing. I am in no pain and I don't/feel any holes or breaking off of teeth. They are just covered in tartar in the back right. Hopefully they can get rid of that?

Tartar is very common behind the front bottom teeth and most people get a build up, I was told it is because our salivary glands are there and something else that I can't remember now. I try to pay extra attention to that area as I always seem to get some tartar no matter how much I clean and floss.

Good luck for your appointment let us know how you get on please :butterfly:

Good luck, even though I go to dentist every 3 months I still need help. Carole is right dentists have seen all sorts and you teeth will not be the worst they have seen. If you dont like the dentist go and see another one

Hi guys! I had a lot of inflammation on my gums! Other then that, we did x rays and got the verdict that I have 6 relatively small cavities, and 2 of my old fillings need to come out to be replaced by new fillings, and my wisdoms needs to come out eventually. Other then that.. everything is fixable!!!! I am sooo happy. So relieved.

Well done for going to the dentist

Things are rarely as bad as we think they are, at least once we know we can face dealing with the treatment we need.

Good for you for getting there [smiley=jumping.gif][smiley=jumping.gif][smiley=jumping.gif]:butterfly:
