Hi everybody,
i have silently been looking at this site for years and have finally decided to register. I had horrible dentistry when I was younger. Having an over-crowded mouth and a huge overbite I ended up having many extractions and braces including head gear......who wouldn't be phobic after that?
well a few months ago after having repeated abscesses I finally decided to find a dentist as the doctors had now refused to prescribe me anymore antibiotics. I panicked about the appointment but I knew nothing would be done until after a round of antibiotics so the panic was manageable!
I really pushed myself to go back bearing in mind I hadn't been for 15 years or so knowing that the dentist would want to do something drastic. He told me that I needed a filling, although all I heard was blah blah blah FILLING blah blah!!! Argggghhhh. Being a fairly well rounded, sensible mature person, I felt I had no choice but to say "ok" as I really didn't want to embarrass myself by crying or jumping out the dentist chair. Any way I had the filling done no problems.....didn't hurt at all. What did hurt was this lovely, kind dentist telling me I then had to be referred to a surgery to have 4.....yes 4 teeth removed.
this is now my issue. I am being sedated on Friday at 12:30 to have my teeth out. I have been given a sheet of what to do before and after but nothing to tell me what's actually going to happen. I've already postponed it once by convincing myself I had a cough and how the dentist couldn't possibly do it if I was coughing all over him. I need to hear some similar stories good or bad?
Thanx
