7 Days with immediate dentures

I just joined this sight and its awesome!!
One week ago today I had 12 upper teeth pulled..one was an impacted wisdom...
I went home swollen, bruised, bleeding and in alot of pain.
By the time I got my pain pills in I was in tremendous pain....
This has been a very bad week !! Its a good thing I dont work!!
I have had pain most of the week, I cant speak very well..I sound like sylvester the cat!!
So my questions are 1. when do they stop hurting? 2. I have sore spots how do I make those go away?..3.Can I take them out at night now? I have the last 2 nights but when I put them back in the mornings they are very tight and painful fit.
Im not supposed to go back to dentist until 7 more weeks..Ill get another set of dentures then as they made these too large for my mouth....
I have been pretty much in bed for the past week...2 days ago I was finally able to get up and about. Ive been so tired, sick to my stomach, and light headed.
My teeth look great! so different from my real teeth!!
I looked like a blow fish who had been beaten lol

You can't be expected to go another 7 weeks without your dentist reviewing things, the dentures certainly will need adjusted right now.

Please make an appointment to visit your dentist as soon as you can, they should answer the rest of your questions while you're there.

Welcome to the Upper denture club wild_trose, I had my upper teeth removed almost a year ago. I took off , i think it was a total of 11 days counting the weekends. And i was fine to go back to work with my upper denture.

To answer your questions from an experinced upper denture wearer. Mine stop hurting about 7 days after i got them done. The sore spots are from the denture itself, but this is because your gums are swollen. Eventually your gums will shrink. I was told to leave mine it at least 24/7 for the first two days and only take them out to wash and rinse gums/mouth. After those 2 days i left them out at night , while i slept. then put them back in first thing in morning

thanks for the replies...teeth are doing better, still some pain, and 2 serious hot spots. I called dentist and go see him next week...I speaking a little better but still cannot say s words without sounding like sylvester the cat lol

Just found your topic. I've had my immediate dentures (upper and lower!) since July 7th. Glad you are going back to the dentist sooner than 7 weeks! I practically lived at my dentists office the first couple of weeks after I got them. I needed little adjustments several times a week. Those adjustments do wonders for getting rid of sore spots!!
As for speaking..it does take time. Some people seem to speak clearly quicker than others. I'm on week 11 and to be honest, there are still times I get frustrated at how certain words come out. Just had my hard reline done last week and they felt so different it's taken me a couple of days to get the hang of talking with them. Not nearly as bad as at first though..thank goodness!!
