I've been dealing with cancer for a long time. I've had four surgeries, four doses of iodine radiation, over a month of direct radiation... and am now on a chemo drug. Long story short, I can't lay down to sleep without my throat closing up, and ironically have a hard time keeping fluids from going down the throat otherwise... and it terrifies me to have any dental work done with all that going through my head.
A month ago I managed to pull myself together and had my second molar pulled on my lower jaw. I thought it was healing just fine and no worries. I've been having some soreness there and for a bit I thought I'd cut my gums or something, but that doesn't seem to be the case. On the inside facing of where the tooth was pulled I can feel a thin ridge with my tongue. Touching it with my fingernail, it's hard and rough like bone and is in line with where the tooth that got pulled is at. It's immobile to the touch... what is it? Is my jaw tearing back through the gums?
I don't drink and don't smoke...
