Can an implant be placed next to a root canal tooth?

Does it matter if one has an implant installed next to a tooth that has had a root canal? Will it change the success or failure rate of the implant? Thank you!

It didn't for me. I had 16 root canals and then a few implants. Most (if not all) of the implants were directly beside at least one of the root canalled teeth.
