Hi all!
I had a dry socket diagnosis on Tuesday, had it cleaned and then had it packed with a dissolvable filling that immediately gave me relief.
My wisdom tooth extraction was 6 days before that in which by day 3 I knew something was wrong cause the pain was getting worse.
I do feel like based on what I’ve read, I did get lucky in that my pain wasn’t unbearable. Don’t get me wrong, I was very uncomfortable and in a lot of pain, but I was able to manage the discomfort with Ibuprofen and I was able to sleep through the nights.
After my dry socket was packed, 24 hours later the dissolvable paste accidentally came out when it stuck to my gums in my sleep. As a result, I was in some pain Wednesday day but then by Wednesday night when I went to take my dose of painkillers, the pain just never came back. Now I’m 48 hours later with no pain, just slight, slight discomfort that feels around the jaw than the socket itself.
Now my question is, I have a very large socket, confirmed by the oral surgeon. I’ve been using chlorexhidine twice a day along with rinsing my mouth out twice a day with salt water. I’m approximately 10 days post op and I’m scared that I’m gonna cause myself to dry socket again cause I was told to resume a normal diet. So while I sit here and try to eat normal again, like wraps, hamburgers and meat, I fear I’m gonna dislodge whatever is in my socket and cause a dry socket again.
Is that possible? Is there another clot I could dislodge? I look into my socket and it still looks the same like white which I assume was bone but now maybe it’s granulation tissue cause I have no pain? I’ve been non stopped stressed over the fear I’m gonna go from no pain to unbearable pain again after just going 3 days without.
I miss my nicotine, I miss my straws and I miss my movie theater popcorn and I can’t bring myself to even leave my room let alone go back to work or eat without stress.
