Hi,
I joined because I chickened out of wisdom tooth surgery today. Backstory? I'm an expat, so my dentist doesnt speak english, and my wisdom teeth are mostly fine, just one needs to be pulled because it used to have a flap which was trapping food (After over a year waiting for my appointment I actually cut off the flap myself, and since then I havent had any problems.). Also I should mention that I have had four teeth extracted before my orthedontics, and I've never had fear before today.
So "doomsday" approached, and I have to say, I was pretty nervouse. I got a sitter for the kids and my husband for support and prepared for the after care. But I never considered not going.
In the office, I had to wait for over an hour. The dentist poked his head put a couple times without a hint of a smile, and finally waved me in. He muttered something I didn't understand before yelling the equivalent of "SCOOT YOUR DAMN ASS UP.... PPPPLEASE" and then started shooting my face full of the stuff without even gloves on. The nurses seemed terrified of him and scurried about trying to get me to fill out a form I guess I should have filled out at home while he yelled at them.
Some minutes later the nurses put me in another room with a bloody tank in the corner and swabbed my mouth with something and then the dentist was back like a bull in a china shop dropping instruments and cursing and yelling. I asked a nurse about the blood, she said it was mostly saliva, and hooked up a hose to the tank which she clearly intended to use on me. Then the dentist unceremonially covered my head with a sheet. I yanked it off and left.
I called my usual dentist to tell the story, and he said that this dentist must be having a bad day, because he is a very nice man. They did give me a referal though, but after a minute with that guy I just left for no reason. I am terrified and I cant stop crying.
