Dead tooth?
A baby head butted me on my front tooth. It hurt at first, went to the dentist and didn't see anything. He said to wait and see because it could be nerves dying. Now the pain is suddenly gone after two weeks, is the tooth dead or healed ? If dead will it shows in the x ray?

It could have just been bruised and it now healed. An x ray would show if the tooth was dead :)

Dentists can make a vitality check ethyl chloride or electricity. They press it to your tooth and if you feel pressure or pain the tooth is still alive. Plus x-ray.

Could be either. Pain usually goes away after about two weeks when it heals too. For a front tooth you can pretty easily test it yourself. Take an ice cube, press it to the tooth that got bumped (that tooth only) and see if you feel the cold sensation in your tooth. It should feel similar to what you would feel if you would ate really cold ice cream. As long as that specific tooth is able to sense the cold, the nerve is still alive. If no sensation, I'd see your dentist so they can re-check. If the tooth just died, it won't show up on the x-ray quite yet. The only way to tell is by checking for sensation. Hope this helps!
