Disappointed

I have had a huge phobia of the dentist and recently got Up the nerve to have major dental work done. I went last Friday to have 2’extractions, a wisdom tooth and a molar right next to it. I woke Saturday morning and felt the best I have in awhile. Just a tad sore. Saturday night I woke up with a throbbing pain where the molar has been extracted. The pain has gotten worse every day since. I went back to the dentist yesterday and they said no dry socket and put me on antibiotics in case of infection. The pain is almost unbearable. The area where wisdom tooth that was pulled, feels perfectly fine. I’m so worried and scared to even go back, Has anyone Experienced anything similar?

I don’t have any answers, but you were very brave to get the teeth pulled despite the fear. I think it’s good you got checked; Hopefully if there is an infection the antibiotics will be helpful very soon. Can you call back to ask about another antinflammatory or painkiller?

unbearable pain is not ok, no matter whether your dentist finds it so or not. Just give them a call and let it get checked and if they do not take it seriously, try to get a different dentist. I have no idea whats wrong, but nobody has to put up with unbearable pain so do not accept any dentist who want to ignore that.

I have no idea whats wrong, but nobody has to put up with unbearable pain so do not accept any dentist who want to ignore that.

I woke up this morning and while still in pain, it definitely was a little better, I went to my appointment and he said everything looks good and is healing well. He really couldn’t give an explanation besides it’s possible during the extraction, a tiny piece of bone may have chipped. He said I should be on an uphill battle from here. I really like this dentist and he seems to genuinely care, but it’s frustrating to have bad pain and no answer for it

Hm, I would expect the dentist to at least give you some painkillers that would take care of it if there is no real physiological reason for the pain.. Anyway, glad it's better and hope it will be gone completely soon.
