Hoping Tiger made it through, too. Thanks Tink. Your replies here helped me go through with it and so glad I did.

Hope Tiger is fine.

That's good to know, glad I was able to be of some help!

i've been thinking of Tiger too, hope she's ok!

Tiger, check in when you can and let us know how you are...

Sorry bit slow...I wanted to reply on my computer where I could see what I was writing and the replies i was replying to rather than my phone and I really was just too tired to be upright.

Twothirty22...so glad it went well :) yay hope you heal quickly lol at the extra needle. Surprisingly those do not bother me in the least. Always throws her off that I kind of watch instead of closing my eyes before that thing comes at me. Hopefully you didn't have much swelling after either. I knew you could do it and it would be fine. *hugs* way to go.

LOL Tink your post about not finding or trying to fix anything else yes totally I needed that. That's exactly what I do...I panic myself stupid and keep finding issues that may or may not exist until I am convinced i'll be toothless at 35 (not that far away ugh)

I think I scared my friend's little boy. I was not ready to be alone when I got back to my house and she wanted company so over I went (hey I am suffering from baby fever I get to hold a 7mo old and play with a 2 year old....he was a little confused at my half drooping mouth. poor kid.
After I got home i am pretty sure I just died...I didn't even get up for the gym that night. the thought was there when the alarm went off...but yeah not so much. I think i logged in on my phone a few times with the intent of replying, but I really couldn't focus enough for that.
Today is the first real day with any actual energy and I didn't feel like rubbish running either.

So anyway her original plan worked for now...just barely. I saw the xray...not sure the filling or the crown could get any closer without doing root canals for sure. Which sucks because if this filling fails I know for sure I will need another root canal and I am not much of a fan. But eh...hopefully it will cope with it unlike it's buddy on the other side of my mouth that packed a sad and died. it's a wait and see effort. If they make it to the 3 week appointment for my permanent crown hopefully they will stay alive and I don't kill them biting down on that stupid thing for the 3d scan.
I did lose it completely in my appointment...not really sure why had nothing to do with the work or anything...I was numb and hurrah it didn't affect my eye this time but one minute i'm fine the next there are stupid tears sneaking out of the corner of my eye ugh.

Haven't noticed much other than my gums around the two teeth are raw and a bit bloody from the work. I'm too scared to eat...they are just close enough to the front that it would be easy to accidentally get food over there. so i am chillin with my ninja blender, but that's kind of a pain and a lot of prep work. Also too scared to oil pull which I miss and floss that side which i know I should do but I had such issue with the last temp coming off I really really don't wanna.

She also answered my mile long list of questions about the implant. It's 2 of the 3d scans one before and one in the middle (if you read my other post you'd know how I feel about that on 2 fronts....and i am pretty sure half the board thinks i am stupid and uninformed and hates me for my opinion and feelings on that) and the general fact that the last time I had one I had to be carried back to the room my knees locked out and my teeth hurt for a week from clamping down on that bite thing so hard. It seems like I could conceivably do the first one now (or rather in 3 weeks when i get my permanent crown) We have it kinda scheduled kinda not. I'm not sure if i can do it really. And the second is halfway through or the end of procedure...(that one sounds like a terrible plan...I really might lose it as I will be horribly freaked out. I still don't know how they can get decent images as I shake uncontrollably. Seriously I had an MRI on my knee and they gave up no matter how they packed my knee i still shook and tensed up so bad they couldn't see clearly enough. poor knee still has a tear.
She swears she's blocking her schedule off to be there for this implant so she can be there too. I feel like that won't really happen...but I am scared enough I really kind of need it too particularly for that 2nd scan. Anyone else I am not familiar enough with tries to scoop me off the floor and I might freak out more.
Still not sure I can do this at all and besides what if this scan is a waste of time because I don't have enough bone left. It's been 3 years. I have a gum recession on the tooth next to the missing one right on the corner where the missing tooth is...I feel like that means bone loss already...

Now the real question is do i start a new panic thread or just keep this one going for a while.

Thanks for the support

damn it google....and now i'm panicked over which way he might do the implant and terrified bone grafting is needed if it's only been 3 to 4 years ahhh...i don't think i want bone harvested i kind of need that where it is.
that was 5 minutes of marginally being ok

Hey Tiger, you made it through! So pleased for you - knew you'd do it!

Stop Googling, though. ;o) No need to replay the what ifs and worst case scenarios - we've all done it here. All you can really do is deal with the stuff that gets thrown at you, as it gets thrown at you. Trying to think of even worse things is a waste of your obvious intelligence and energy.

I think you've got this even though you seem to think you haven't. Just a step at a time. I like to think of it like this that I am in control of it (even when I secretly think am not) and could stop anything at any stage if I really had to. But am not going to. You're doing the best you can for your overall health and you couldn't possibly be doing any better. Kudos. x

this is a normal dental office doing the implant surely even before the ct scan from my reg xrays. i watched an implant with gbt i didn't expect that. i'll never be able to get through that and the rest of my teeth will suffer because i'll have to stop oil pulling tears tears tears...my ridge width is at 6mm by my attempts to measure...that's minimum needed and that"s probably higher than a real measurement. and what if he wants me on something other than amoxicillin...absolutely will not take anything else won't even fill them at least i'll consider those.

i feel like any decision i make is the wrong one...all of this is my own fault right down to the thing that sealed the deal and made even getting in the chair impossible and now i'm in an even worse mess because i just can't get over it already.

twothirty22 i just keep jumping ahead i can't do one step at a time. i was happily thinking this would be straight forward after pics im sure it's not and what if it's not one he wants to do. if they send me out i don't think i can all the oral surgeons here are male new office more hospital like new staff and they may force me to go out or do multiple proceedures. i want to leave woth my post if i makevit there or i might never come back

Tiger - how much of this have you communicated to them? The bottom line is - fi I understand right - you want to leave with the post done, so have you made sure that whoever is treating you (as well as your own dentist) totally gets that?

I don't know anything about implants. Wish I did, but maybe someone will be along who has had the same experience and can tell you totally what to expect?

I get it that you find it hard to take one step at a time - but it's worth a try. How much more opportunities for discussion about the possible variables do you have, before The Day?

Hello, shattered but just dropping past!

Tiger - you can do this x

For now, you're getting overwhelmed by it all, that's OK. Take a step back, and just breathe. That's all you have to do, for now.

It's not your fault, at all. None of it.

Just keep breathing. There will be a way through, and you will find it - but for now you need to take care of yourself.

Tink

i can't go through with a bone graft if it cant be done with the implant. i know i don't have enough bone...they will do a bone block anthat's gruesome and coming from my chin no no no!! with screws i can see. there's no way. why even waste thhe scan...if i can't go through it. i didn't think it had been long enough but because the tooth likely absessed it ate away bone i didnt even worry about before i was only worried about the ridge. it's only been 3 years...i thought i would have more time Now they will prob want me sent to the surgeon and i don't want to. but if i don't wont all my other teeth fall out and i cant do GA nor do i want to. i thought this was going to be simple. why did she pretend like i wont need major grafting surely she can see it from.outward appearance. she knows the tooth she pulled it. i really thought it'd just be post placement and done and there's just no freaking way.

Ok, tiger, try to stop googling, if you can!

I know it's hard, and I know you desperately want the answers, but try not to decide the worst is going to happen until the dentist tells you. There's a lot we don't know about dentistry, and google will not be able to tell you - there's loads of context and years of experience that we are missing.

It's up to the dentist to determine exactly what would be needed to give you an implant. All the decisions about whether to go ahead are entirely yours, you are in control - but diagnosing and figuring it out is their job. She's not pretending or hiding things from you, and she will tell you what is needed.

Then when you have all the information, you can make an informed decision. It's always, *always*, your choice. If necessary, you can look into other options for replacing the tooth, like dentures or bridges.

Honestly, don't try to do what couldn't possibly be expected of you - you're not a dentist, so you're not responsible for figuring the surgery out.

I'm in a similar situation now. Had my first treatment ever after a 15yrs absence from a dentist clinic. X ray has shown that I have bone loss round a front tooth that needs rtc. I have an hour appointment booked for rct, but I've gap between this tooth and the next that appears to have got worse recently. The rct will be done and if the tooth stabilises then I have to options of veneer or crown, if not its an implant. But bone loss and implant combined with Google has me fearing the worst. Hope all goes well with your treatments.

thanks Tink...I don't even know if her partner does the grafting stuff himself or not but seriously not cutting a piece of bone out of my face no no no. I really did not think I would need bone grafting already...till I read stuff. It's been three years I think Her oldest was almost 2 he's 5 now. I really thought it would be fine. I don't feel like I have any choices other than suffer through and hope I don't ruin my face...or let all my teeth fall over. I just want it to be simple. she made it sound like it was just standard run of the mill but everything I read says I'm too late and stupid for waiting and screwed. I don't even think the graft will live. I can't stomach antibiotics. Natural options sure. I didn't even think that there could be bone lose from the old tooth being there. she never said anything about all of that when I pulled it. She only ever said if I waited too long...never said I was there already...Please don't let me be there already. let there be enough. Please please without a separate procedure. I don't think I can go through another one, a second. And I can't ask her to sit there for both. And my face is going to be ruined and swollen for ever I swear. I will never want to leave the house after this. All of my work regulars will make fun of me forever...and I don't care how old I am. I am not one to laugh it off...maybe outwardly.

AKN good luck with your appointment. From google it looks like it is a lot easier to graft at time of removal. I wish I had had that option honestly. Maybe it won't be a problem though...there is still enough bone to hold your tooth there so don't lose hope. My issue is the tooth was pulled three years ago and I dunno if it had bone loss from slowly disintegrating or not really. If my dentist even mentioned that I was in too much of a panic to hear it and retain it. Keep us posted. *hugs*

went to bed at 7 this morning 1030 and I'm awake again ansolutely certain I need a bone block graft which as far as i can tell is not anle to be done at time of implant...and i don't want another wound in my face it will never heal with my luck and thats 2 courses of antibiotics to avoid or suffer through...and i'd never make it to a second appointment. They prob wouldn't want to do it at their office anymore so unfamiliar staff unfamiliar docs and Dr C wouldn't be able to be there anymore.

i'm so going to agree to a bunch of really invasive stuff i won't do well with out of fear. i know me. i'm going to make the wrong decision and nothing will work right.

Hi Tiger -

OK, you got this. You can do this.

Take a step back. Take a moment. Breathe.

What's going on here, is that your head is running away with you, and rushing to all the worst possible conclusions. That's the thing about anxiety, you can't always stop those thoughts rushing in. Note: they're not a failing, and they're not your fault! Just a natural part of anxiety for some of us.

We all get this sometimes, I know how hard it is! Honestly, you are doing so, so well to be dealing with this

You *can* make the right decisions for yourself, you just need to get the information - the actual information as it applies to *your* individual case and your teeth, from your dentist - and take your time to figure out what's right for you. You don't have to make any decisions based on limited information, and importantly, you don't have to make any decisions based on what Google thinks!

You haven't committed to anything at all yet, and you don't need to until you feel ready, and until you are sure that you are making the right decision for yourself. Nobody (not even you!) is going to make you do anything.

quick note scan just moved to tomorrow I"m absolutely about to puke. they will find more things wrong/ no bone major grafting need repeats pass out/cry no promises on results either. pretty sure i cant have a thyroid collar either

OK, you can do this.

If you cry, that's OK. Even if you pass out, that's OK, they will take care of you until you feel better.

What this scan will do, is get you the information you need - that's good. No more guessing blindly what the outcome is going to be or what surgery is going to be needed. Uncertainly is one of the hardest things to deal with when you are anxious, and this scan will put an end to that uncertainty, and help you and your dentist to be able to make properly informed decisions about your treatment.

Try to think of it that way. You're doing it for answers. Answers are good, you need them.

We'll be right here, cheering you on!

Tink x

i'm just so afraid of if it is in need of bone. or what else they might fine. even worse if she cant give me a plan tomorrow. i really dont want them to judge me my friends already are...i pass out and they just make fun of me :(

Omg I cannot. I can't What are they going to find. If I need a graft it won't survive. I can't take antibiotics I never have been able to deal with them. And the fact that I can't run on them I'm miserable. It's never going to make it.

Ok, maybe the thing to do today is break it down a bit. The whole thing together is too much for you to deal with in one go, but that's OK. All you need to achieve today is go and get the scan to get the information, that's it.

After that - and only after that - you can think it over and make your own decisions, in your own time.

Baby steps. Just aim for that, you can sort out the rest in time later, but you *don't* have to decide it all today.

...and if your friends make fun of you when you pass out instead of taking care of you, then you need better friends. You deserve care and support.

Happily the dentist won't do that though, everything you've said about them suggests that they're not like that! They are professionals, it's their *job* to look after you, and your dentist has been kind enough to offer to sit in on treatment just to support you - there really aren't many around who would do that! Those are not the type of people who are likely to bully you or make fun of you. Let them help you - you deserve help x
