Hi Tiger -

So how did you get on? Hope you're ok x

I'm also hoping you're ok!

Thanks Ladies. I survived. I will have to give the rundown shortly. I need to get to the store before it closes didn't realize it was almost 10. But couldn't leave it without some sort of comment since you guys were so kind to check on me. Much appreciated.

Shortly..hah I fell asleep missed my midnight gym time all weekend. still got my runs in but ugh. I feel like a sloth.
Anyway...they were nice enough to turn down the settings on the machine to child sized...since I pretty much am child sized lol. 4'11" I managed to not cry although I did pretty much fall into the wall trying to get out of the stupid machine as fast as humanly possible. Saved the crying for the run home, hey they can't see you cry with sunglasses and it probably just looked like sweat anyway.

Dr. C said I had so much bone she wouldn't know what to do with it all and that if she were to start doing implants herself she'd pick me to be her first it looked so straight forward. Hope she wasn't just being nice. Her practice partner would be looking at the scan today. Hope he agrees. I didn't get any phone calls from them today but eh, I have an appointment in a week and a bit for the permanent crown so they'd probably wait to deliver any bad news then. I am trying not to let my mind run away with me. I don't think she would have said any of that unless she thought he would agree.

Now I am just kind of wondering how well I'm going to tolerate the procedure and if i am really going to avoid needing the antibiotics. She still says she is going to sit there while he does it, but it means she is coming in early again. I hope she really does come but I feel like such a pain in the arse. I am pretty sure she thought she was getting away without doing that until I asked her if she was really coming. So June 17th it is. *Gulp* Dear food I'm going to miss you because I'm scared enough to eat with temporary dental work...I'm going to be extra scared afterward to even think about eating for a few weeks. basically until my jaw and gums heal and I don't have to baby them when brushing ugh.
I'm pretty petrified that i may never have feeling in my face again or that this won't be numb. It could go either way on that. Ugh some one tell me It's going to go amazingly well and standard.

You sound texbook. It's going to go amazingly well and standard.

And you'll be eating before you know it. Got to fuel that fitness somehow!

Hello -

So glad to hear the scan results were good news!

You know, the chances are it probably will go well and be straightforward. I know your head likes to run off and construct all the possible worst case scenarios, but as you've seen with the scan, that doesn't make them come true! All it does is torment you with 'what ifs'.

Re your dentist sitting in on the treatment - that's really kind of her, you've got a gem of a dentist there! It's also not unprecedented though, my dentist is sitting in on my root canal treatment this afternoon, just to look after me. You're not being a pain in the arse, they are just making some adaptations to make the treatment tolerable for you - that's better for everybody, including them! Finally, remember that if she wasn't happy to do it she could always just say no! Dentists are free to refuse to do things they are unable or unwilling to do. You're not forcing her to do it, this is her doing her job well and taking good care of you.

Honestly, trust her to tell you the truth, and to make her own decisions about what she's willing to do. She sounds great and is doing all the right things, definitely a keeper!

Thanks Ladies. truly hope you are right.
And Tink you are right about the what ifs. I already have plenty of those swirling around about the implant but right now i have a million about my permanent crown next friday. Actuallyvworried it will kill the tooth or the deep filling next to it and delay the implant. (this happened to the same teeth on the other side...plus i only did these because the last crown was pushing on the teeth with the old filling. i don't want that to start happening again. And it's going to hurt, but i'd rather not be numb again ahhh

plus i am worried a former coworker is a new dental assistant at that office. i'm afraid she'll talk poorly of me. She used to talk really bafly about her best friends that also worked at my job sooo. Also her work ethic was pretty crap and she's super unfocused. I dunno if she's better in the dental field but I really don't want her putting my perm crown on and def not helping with the implant. wahh

1 week till I am back at the dentist for my permanent crown. I am terrified the tooth will pack a sad or it's neighbor that was re-filled and die when they finish this. I am afraid that pushing uncomfortable feeling caused by the crown being done next to it will return and it will never feel right. That something will happen with this and push off the implant giving me more time to back out and panic. that it will be too much healing and invasive crap and cause an infection in the implant just from lowered immunity. Did I make the right decision. I am stuck with this if it goes wrong. What if one of my older crowned teeth finally dies and needs removing and it's one I would have rather had the implant on. I won't have money for that. I won't want to risk waiting and a lot of these have developed recessions on the tops. I worry myself with them, over floss them, piss them off doing that and make them bleed after days of over flossing. sometimes they twinge. I've lost track of who was root canalled what if those are too weak or infected and need pulling after my next appointment. All my teeth have been achy. I just chalked that up too bruised teeth from clamping down on the bite block so hard when they work. What if I broke something though, or killed it. UGHHHHH I should really go to work now before i am late. YAy more time to worry.

ahhh what if DrC was wrong and Dr. H decides I need grafting after all. what if my bone turns out to be too soft.
ahhh what if my other teeth get loose because of this...like when you pull a tooth. i don't want to hurt any of the ones left. i don't want to kill them with a root canal and i can't afford another implant

21 days and .5 hours. i might be a lost cause.

nightmare after nightmare today. haven't run since tuesday feel like a cow can't sleep. what if i can't go through with it? what if it this is the wrong decision. it's too late. I know what's going to happen. i won't be able to be numb and i'll just have to hope i can dig my nails in my hand and hope i make it through:eek:

wtf thing was in Sarah's mouth at that dental office on Orphan Black??? is that what is going to be on my face for the implant??? Dr C said only a bite block ahhhh wtf. i dont think i can do this anymore.

Hey Tiger - Same advice as always I'm afraid! Take a step back and breathe. Just. Keep. Breathing.

You *don't* know that you won't numb, that's just your head telling you that, and at the moment your head is your own worst enemy.

...and if Dr C said that all they will use is a bite block, then all they will use is a bite block. They are not in the habit of lying to you. Remember TV shows will always go out of their way to make things look dramatic - especially when it comes to dental work! It's not a documentary, it's a drama, and it's certainly not a reliable guide to how your implant placement will work.

Try to step back, look at the bigger picture. You're anxious (that's completely understandable), but you are in safe hands and they will take good care of you x

Thank you Tink I know you are right.

Currently in a panic my crown has come loose. 4 days too early and while it's not off all the way the movement is awful. This tooth is already so ground down it was iffy whether it would survive without a root canal. I feel like this is going to be the end for it with all the movement and since it isn't all the way off they probably think I am making it up. I don't want the other guy putting my permanent in early. I want my Dentist to do it...and I am pretty sure it will be there by tomorrow.
This is not what need. I can't even run. I am scared it'll come all the way off and I don't really want to use that temp cement and try to do it myself I'm scared it will be a lot harder to clean off for the permanent. plus it's pissed off now already because air is getting in there.

I don't want to do this anymore...and of course it's a freaking holiday. Somebody make it stop.

ughh...I don't know what to do with this crown. It's so close to the appointment day 4 days 5.5hrs. Wait am I counting?? yes. I guess I jammed it back in there enough for now...or I haven't been up long enough for gravity and life to loosen it back up. It feels really wrong though. Like something is stuck inbetween the teeth. Is it hurting the filling done next to it? should I just suck it up for 4 days and hope it doesn't do anything. I missed my run thanks to panicking until I fell asleep so now I feel like a tub of lard on top of that. It feels off when I close my mouth...how often do I really do that. Did it die already? Is this going to be it. Will the fact that it's not on there right bring back that uncomfortable pushing feeling like the other crown that made me get these done. Please don't break the filling next to it. I don't want that one root canaled and it would be if it needed a crown. it's just as close as this one is.

Might it be worth taking it off all the way, cleaning and drying the tooth, and re-cementing with temp cement?

I moved about 9 months ago and still go back to my dentist who is 3 hours away. The last time I had to have a crown put on, the assistant actually gave me temp cement and showed me how to use it just in case the temp crown fell off while I was waiting for the permanent one. It's never happened to me, but I guess it must be a pretty common occurrence.

If you'd rather not do that, it might make sense to go back today and just have them put the temp back on - not unreasonable at all.

Headed out for a short run before work myself. Hang in there!

hey there and thanks. I have had a few come off. but my dentist was in the office herself more then and i think i am just ultra panicked i don't want anything bad to happen before the implant...because i have this fear it'll mean delaying it or being on anyibiotics that i wasnt going to take. especially being the tooth above the implant.

I'm already spazzing it won't heal under normal circumstances :/ i really need this to be over already. At leastvI'll know if i look like a monster or have permanent damage. :(

also i still haven't run...i'm panicking so much about missing my workouts post implant ( and my favorite running time...that I'm missing out now :(

Hi tigerstripedred, I have read a little bit of your journey and just want to wish you good luck. I have always heard that if a temp crown comes loose it is not an emergency unless it is causing you pain or making you totally unable to eat. I think if you prefer to wait for your appointment it will be fine, but I also think it wouldn't hurt just to call and ask them about it.

Good luck to you, I hope all goes well.

thanks scaredy it's hanging in there for now 33.5 hours till permanent crown. sure hope it doesnt put too much pressure on it's neighbors like the last one...i cant have a root canal postponing the implant. I just want All of this to be over and out of the woods.
I guess I'll never be ok. Not a day has gone by since I started 3 years ago that i dont worry something has died or i aill lose another tooth or what's,that twinge mean etc.

Oh my gosh I could have written that myself. I totally know what you mean about the worry. Fpr once I actually had an appointment go well, and yet I am still kind of holding my breath and scared the tooth will just drop dead from the trauma of having been worked on so much.
I do hope everything goes well for you. You are in the home stretch now.
