So to start off I've had dental phobia most of my life. I stopped seeing a dentist at age 10 then started finally fighting my fear at age 21 which was last year. After 2 teeth out, 2 root canals and 14 fillings I finally conquered it and got dentally fit again.
However last week I was eating and a part of my root canal filling broke off, so right away I booked a dentist appointment to get seen. Now my biggest fears here are a simple 3 things that I'd love advice for. First I have a huge fear of getting teeth out as when I was very young I had teeth taken out and that's where my dental phobia all started. The second fear is going back to having broken teeth along with the pain and discomfort, I've had this broken filling for 6 days and the feeling of the broken tooth on my tongue is driving me crazy from having spent so long before with the same. I want this sorted soon as possible I don't want to go back to horrible dental problems. The third and final thing is simply just the old fear I have of dental work, I'm certainly stronger from getting sorted again but it's still not easy for me to do it.
Well tomorrow is my dentist appointment but it's the fear of the unknown on what's going to need done that's driving me crazy so any stories or wise words to keep my spirits high would be great. I'm sure anyone who suffers from dental phobia also understand how you just see something so simple as this massive challenge and that's exactly what I'm doing, just blowing it out of proportion.
Thanks it advance for any help!
