Government Dental Assistance??

I live in Michigan and I am 22 yrs old.
With a combination of inheriting bad teeth and neglect as a child, my teeth are in terrible condition. Heres my story..
When I was 10 I got two fillings on each side of the top of my mouth.
A couple years later one fell out, and that tooth had to be pulled.
The same appointment when the tooth was pulled, the Dentist decided the other filling needed to be bigger(making it HUGE). That was the worst appointment. of my life, I left crying.
The tooth that has the big filling is now really sensitive. A tooth next to the one that was pulled started to decay also, and one of my choices was to get a root canal(rather than pull it and loose another tooth).
I went through with the root canal and they put a temp cap on. I didn't finish the root canal and the tooth is slowly chipping away. (half of it chipped away last night) I got a exam a couple weeks ago and the dentist told me the tooth with the huge filling is about to fall apart. Not to mention my wisdom teeth that are coming in horizontally, and some other cavities.

I have always been uncomfortable with my teeth, but now I am so stressed out over it. I was not approved for care credit, even with a co*signer. The dentist said it would be around $3,000.

I don't know what to do I can barely eat anything now, and I'm only 22!!!!

Hi...not aware of goverment assistance...at least in Michigan, other than if you are on medicaid. There are a few options though. You didn't mention what part of Michigan. If you are in the Detroit Metropolitan area, you could check with the U of D (University of Detroit) dental school. They can do the treatment at a more more affordable rate. If you would rather not go that route, there are many dentists in the area that participate with discount dental plans, perhaps your dentist participates with such a plan. Several years ago I was facing costly procedures and in fact paid full price for the first extractions and denture I received, but after investigating, I found my dentist participated in a discount plan and I have been able to not only afford treatment, but saved a whole lot because of the plan.
