Hi, over the past few days I have been having a bit of pain and a bit of a sour taste on one side of my mouth by the molars. Upon investigating today I noticed I have some raw red spots on my gums. I do at times get a little to over zealous brushing. I was wondering if these pictures (on of the opposite healthy side and the other the bad side) would be any help in identifying which it may be. I am trying to get a dentist appointment however I am in a small town so unfortunately this means long way times. I am concerned this might be a sign of needing a root canal. I was hoping to have someone let me know either way so I may not spending so much time researching and stressing myself out. Thank you for your time :)

I've had similar red spots along my gum line from brushing too hard, however I'm not sure what the taste is as I've never had that. I'm sure a dentist will answer soon :)
