gum pain at crown site

I had a crown installed on my upper left molar 6 years ago. Once in a whle I have pain on my gum above the crown. I have it right now. I notice that at the gum line I can see part of the post. Is that what is causing the occasional pain or should I have the crown replaced?

You can see the POST? Doubt it... but if you can you really need to see a dentist ASAP.

I also have receeding gums. Hereditary problem.
