I havent been to the dentist in 14 years and recently the back of my tooth started aching. I have really bad dental phobia and do not know what to expect. I finally woke up with the courage to make a dentist appt this morning and she scheduled me in for tomorrow at 1 pm. I am so afraid and going through crazy amounts of anxiety . I dont even know what a dentist office looks like anymore. last time i went I was like 8 or 9 and now I am 22. What usually happens in the first appointment after not going for so long? are they going to start pulling my teeth out. any support would be appreciated. thank you kind people !

Ahahah nahh she will just take a look, talk to you, see what needs to be done. No painful work at all tomorrow, it will mostly be just chatting. She will ask about your past experiences, if you have anxiety, etc.

Build trust with her and see if her methods fit you, that's what this session should be all about!

If she skips right into action (highly unlikely) then I would recommend finding someone else :/

Good luck!!!

Thank you for the reply! omg it went great. Im so glad i went. I just needed a good cleaning and had to get a cavity filled. I feel so accomplished and so glad i took the first step in going. Dentists arent scary anymore as they used to be. everything is so painless now with all the high tech things they have now in the office. I am so glad i can make going to the dentist a part of my life now. you come out feeling so great and clean. My mouth has never felt this clean like ever. It is so amazing what a good clean can do. it can literally change the way your whole teeth looks. for everyone thinking that its too late to take action it is really not! I went after 14 years and even though the dentist was a little surprised he really was so dedicated to helping me. I go back next week to get my two front teeth in a more square shape for them to be more nice and even. I didnt even know dentists can do that now or i would have been gone. It feels great and when you go once, you wont feel nearly as afraid to go again for any other follow up treatments. I went in there thinking i was going to get all my teeth extracted and a bunch of root canals and it was far from what i needed. just a good cleaning will go a long way for healthier teeth. :jump::jump::jump:
