I did it!!! I had that horrible #2 tooth surgically removed under IV sedation on Feb 8th. I will be sure to write a success story when I am feeling better and still need more procedures like fillings etc in the future.

I have a question regarding my socket. It took about 10 hours to clot and I used a teabag to get it to.

It's been about 48 hours and the site hurts a lot but not enough to put me in an excessive amount of pain. OUCH. (although, I have not taken any pain meds).

The problem I am having is that it tastes like salty sulfur, and it emits this taste upon waking and just after a flare up of pain.

Does this sound like I may be developing an infection or dry socket? Or is it just the taste of ...ehm.... yucky blood clot?

I have my followup appointment in five days and was not prescribed any antibiotics pre or post op.

Thanks so much for your time. My appreciation is beyond words!

Love,

If it's not been terribly painful, then it's probably just the taste of the gunge in the extraction site. Dry socket is pretty unmistakeable, it's very painful all the time.

Thank you Gordon :)

the pain seemed to have peaked yesterday when the white stuff (granuloma tissue?) began to form. It was about 2 days post op. But the pain has improved, so I am doubting a dry socket, now.

Thanks so much....!
