I'm due to have my remaining 12 top teeth removed next Wednesday (a week today) and a immediate denture fitted at the same time. I'm supposed to be going away on the Friday? How will I feel! Will it be ok!? I'm so worried but don't want to let people down. Any advice or experiences bout the first few days that follow the procedure is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had a load out recently, but it varies from person to person as far as healing goes, and how gentle your dentist is. In my case my mouth was quite sore and tender but no pain and I healed really quickly, though I did feel a bit rough in the first few days.
I think the denture you're having will protect the gums and aid the healing process a bit. You may have a few issues with the denture as in feel and talking, eating etc more than anything.

In the first few days don't drink anything hot or too cold, eat only soft foods, and don't do any rinsing for a few days so as not to dislodge and clots, then with mild salt water. Your dentist should advise you on this before you leave. You can ask him or her about how you can expect to feel afterwards just for reassurance.
Good luck and have a good holiday.

Really depends on the person. I got my dental extractions done(2 rounds equaling about 14 or 15 and getting my partials the second time) and was feeling great by the next day and for the second round, exactly one week later, we vamoosed for a 2 day mini trip to a casino and stayed in a chalet. Not much advice to offer up except don't drink from a straw, make sure to have an old towel on your pillow, stick to really soft foods. Baby food pouches and containers are something I used a lot of to get food into me. Never thought i'd be so thankful for them.

However, I need to leave you one major piece of advice I learned the hard way: Make sure that you are mentally and emotionally prepared for having a full smile. it may sound REALLY stupid but I didn't and it's biting me in the rump big time. I got everything besides me ready b4 the event and I've been paying the price ever since(second extractions plus partials was about a month and a half ago). Tragically this is something that fails to be mentioned on the getting dentures/partial denture articles I checked out. I found advice and guides on almost anything you need to know bu

can't bring myself to look in the mirror when my upper partial is in IF I decide to wear it(in the past 3 weeks, I've worn it 2 maybe 3 times), am embarrassed of my new smile b/c it just doesn't look like me anymore, can't delete the after photo I took on my tablet b/c I hate the photo too much to look at it, can't even bring myself to wear my upper partial at all outside of dentist trips, it'll be Monday b4 I can finally get my new lower partial since the old one didn't fit right and not even sure if i'll even wear that one much, and am struggling to get through some days.

Wouldn't believe how much i'd like to flush the stupid partials down the toilet(not figuratively speaking, LITERALLY speaking) and put this whole mess behind me like a bad dream.
