i made it about a month untill my face swelled up like a football and didnt have a choice but go to the dentist i feel much better now though just had my root canal treatment finished TODAY! If you have an abcess, i know its probably not what you want to hear but you should get it sorted out before it gets worse because it ended up making me feel really sick and drained for over a week!
After about two months, that is - I came on here got some advice, decided to get myself set up for a dentist but never found the money.
So basically a concoction of aspirin, which helped quite a lot surprisingly just keeping it under control. Eventually after many weeks it wept and pain went.
At the same time, i've upped my 'preventative maintenance' to two types of mouthwash twice each day, and a darn good paste. Doesn't really help though, and I wish I could have the broken pegs restored
I know this thread is years old but been as I just found it in a search that contained only two links to threads I thought i'd add today experience for others that search in the future.
I snapped a tooth 3 years ago all that was left was two roots and it got an abcess not long after was given antibiotics by my old dentist but never went back to have the tooth out.
Found a great dentist in nottingham and have just finished my first treatment plan with him today was the big one (remove the 2 molar roots and drain the small sac that has remained for 3 years and ate my jaw bone away in that area, the treament was pain free but there was quite a bit of fluid drained and I now need to go back in 6 weeks for an xray to make sure it's shrinking back and it will take years for the bone to heal.
My advice for anyone is do whatever you can to get it sorted at the time as the longer you have an infection laying inside you the more risk you take and the more damage it does to your jaw bone and you.
and if you're ever looking for a great dentist in the midlands you cant go wrong with dr mark wilkins at smile style signiture in nottingham.
Hi Dean - congratulations on your success !! That's a fantastic achievement .
We frequently get requests for dentists in Nottingham and I was wondering if you'd like to add Mark Wilkins to the dentist recommendations on this forum? He sounds great, and the fact that the website states that they welcome nervous patients would suggest that he wouldn't mind being recommended?
