A small backstory: I have a good Dentist now. He became my dentist after I got a 2nd opinion from him after I got a $21,000+ "plan" of crowns and root canals on every tooth from Comfort Dental! Subsequently I had those claims inactivated and most were already denied by insurance anyway. That comfort dental dentist is now under state investigation for fraud in excessive dentistry. The new dentist didnt even know about this and his plan was no root canals and only 2 crowns (down from 10 crowns). Thank God for honest dentists.
So 2 months ago I had to get some extractions first, so I went to a surgical dental office to extract teeth# 3, 5, 7 & 12 and all that area spanning my upper jaw is still swollen 3xs the size of my left side which is healed and has bone loss.
The new good dentist I guess wanted to pull impressions after some fillings (seemingly too early im thinking) for full Valplast partials (flex partials).
I cannot afford to get another set of partials at will and I know if I get partials NOW they will start to get loose every month that passes as i heal and that whole side shrinks. I have NO back teeth to make the worst cast scenario for partials. I only have middle teeth and a couple bi-cusps upper and lower on one side so I NEED, not want, partials that fit.
Why would I get them now when the bone and swelling is still massive 2 months later? Why would a dentist even try to get impressions? I took 2 impressions, the white stuff lower and upper, then the caulking gun that injects blue stuff into your upper and lower and expands.
My aunt told me (a retired dentist) I need to wait at least 6 months but dentists are so used to people wanting immediate attention they just all go with it. Not me. I want proper fitting partials or else my bone and tissue will shrink and the floating partials in the rear wont rest in the same place now that they will months to a year from now and you cannot adjust flex partials. You can only remove material and make minor cosmetic changes.
How long do I need to TRULY wait for Valplast partials if i have no back teeth and i just had extractions on upper jaw where those back teeth were while the other side is healed and shrunk WAY smaller causing a uneven impressions.
I plan on 6 months and I already told my dentist receptionist that i wanted to wait 4 more months even though they already sent out impressions.
