I’ve lost many teeth to afp leaving me with only 8 top and 8 bottom.

The premolars are the last teeth I can use to eat with.
Top right is undergoing a crown at the moment £1k

The top left side is supraerupted.
It has a lack of enamel on the side which the dentist temp filled to see if it helped with the sensitive pain I’m having.
It’s not helped. If I floss it’s horrible. Tooth just feels like the nerve is on show.

My options are extract which he doesn’t want to do and it means I will lose my eating ability on that side.
£300 extraction but then I would need partial dentures on the top.. £2k but I can’t wear metal so they would have to be acrylic with denture paste to hold them on meaning they wouldn’t be much use to eat with.

OR
Root canal and crown at £3k with no guarantee it will last.

Money plays a huge part. We are a single earner household due to my huge list of health issues.

Which would you choose?

Can't tell without examining you, sorry.

Thanks Gordon.
Dentist looked last time I was there and said he couldn’t see anything more than a lack of enamel on the back but it feels like the tooth but since then I’ve noticed flossing hurts but on the tooth under the gum.

Didn’t think tooth loss would ever be something I would be battling at 41.

Has the dentist tried some hefty desensitising treatment on it? (Seal & Protect, Gluma, fluoride in a bleaching tray, that kind of stuff).

He tried some yellow fluoride paste and then a temporary filling on the worst bit.
When I floss it really hurts.. like I’m flossing with an ice pic.

Yellow paste isn't really that effective. You could ask to try some of the other things I mentioned.

Thank you. I am going to note those down and discuss them with him.
