Hi
Had my canine tooth removed on Monday and a partial plate put in. I've been back for an adjustment and it's as small as it could be (but feels huge) and covers half my palate ridges (?) and 'hugs'the teeth on that side, either side of the space.
To be honest I'm struggling with anxiety about accepting this situation, I will most likely always have a partial from now on, so I need to be ok about it. I'm doing work with confidence talking, eating, putting it in and out etc but the thing that's really hard is being aware of it, fiddling with it, or at least feeling like I need to get it out and lots of saliva and a reflex to suck it all the time. Just like having a boiled sweet that never disappears ?
Will this saliva issue improve?
Another question, in six months I might have a metal partial made, either with a back molar and the canine or across the palate to have a molar on the other side added. Do these metal dentures cover all the palette? Are they as thick as acrylic?
I know I'm doing well practically considering it's just three days but not coping that well emotionally.
