Immediate/temp dentures. What am I doing wrong?

Firstly, I’m in the UK if that makes any difference to replies.

So yesterday I had my right front tooth and the one next to it (to the right) removed and an immediate denture fitted in its place.

The dentist said it was a good fit, then said she would make some minor changes but then said actually she would leave it as things might change due to swelling.

She removed the denture as my extraction sites were bleeding, stuck a cotton pad in the gap and sent me on my way.

For some reason, I always feel shaky and a bit out of it following local anaesthetic so I didn’t ask any questions and left.

Once the bleeding had stopped I put the immediate denture in and it did ‘click’ into place and feels mostly secure however the pink parts (I guess the bit that replicates the gums and flesh) literally sit behind my remaining teeth and pushes against them. I feel like it’s siting very low and needs pushing up but it won’t go any higher. I can’t bite my back teeth together because the front partial gets in the way of my bottom teeth.

I spoke with the person on reception and they said give it time for swelling to go down and I do agree as I only had the procedure yesterday. I know there will be swelling but it really does feel like it just doesn’t fit.
My remaining teeth are incredibly painful due to the pink part of the denture pushing onto the back of them.

The denture doesn’t have any hooks.

Maybe I’m not inserting it properly? I can hear it clicking when I eat soup and drink.

Can anyone help with any tips/tricks incase I’m doing this all wrong.

No, it sounds like it needs some adjustment. There's a fair bit of educated guess work goes on with immediate dentures, they always need a bit of fine tuning after they go in.
