I've had an implant supported bridge for about 4 years and I've never gotten used to it like some forums said I would. Years ago I got my 2 upper front teeth knocked out in an accident and I had to eventually get the one next to them pulled due to infection. My dentist recommended me to a specialist who then recommended me to another specialist and he suggested I get 2 implants and 3 crowns for a bridge, with a bone graft harvested from my chin. It didn't turn out the way I thought it would because the implants are high in the gums (I suppose there was only so much bone they could restore) and so they put pink stuff on top of the crowns to try and make it blend in w/ my gums more. I hate the way it looks and feels. I constantly have to have something in my mouth, like water or gum, to forget about the foreign object that's in my mouth. I'm afraid to go to another dentist and ask them about my concerns because so far I've been let down. I just wish I had my natural teeth back, or I wish I didn't have any teeth at all. I almost don't care at this point. The gap between my crowns and gums bugs me so much that sometimes I even put paper in between so I stop playing w/ it w/ my tongue. It's really hard to stop thinking about it, and I'm not sure if it's just me, or it's because a dental bridge is unnatural to have in my mouth. I wish there was a better alternative like growing back teeth w/ stem cells or something. I feel like the dentist industry is still light years away from making progress because the same techniques have been used for a long time. When was the last big dental invention?
