Hi all, wonderful forum. I recently had a tooth extracted as an an emergency appt. Had it been something that was planned I would have looked at bone grafting/immediate implantation but due to circumstances that wasn’t an option.
I can just about afford an implant, and hopefully may be be able to get some payment plan.
I don’t yet know whether I will be a candidate. I’m still healing from extraction, 12 days in and still good size hole there but it was a large tooth and it put up one hell of a fight!
Obviously I haven’t been assessed for implant yet and have no idea what my bone situation is like. There was a little gum recession around the tooth that was removed so I expect there will have been some bone loss.
Can bone grafts be done at a later stage if necessary? Anyone had their implants done later and been successful? I understand I would need to wait at least 3 months for healing to take place anyway.
I’ve never felt this level of anxiety about the future, I think I will need other work doing on other teeth and I have no idea where it’s all gonna end, I cannot afford a full mouth of implants. I am focusing on every sensation/feeling in my gums and teeth and everything feels ‘heightened’
Night time is the worst, I seem to focus on it even more then.
I keep it to myself for the most part as I’m sure I sound crazy and I already get eyerolls when I mention my teeth.
Feel very vulnerable and scared what the future holds, no matter how many times I tell myself to get a grip! It’s a lonely place to be……
