Injections don't work on me why?

2 weeks ago I went to have a tooth removed. I broke the tooth 2 years ago but up until Dec it never caused any pain at all. Then I started getting tooth / Jaw ache

The Dentist injected me 11 times, when he put the cold water/air in the center of the tooth the pain was so bad, he gave me antibiotics and told me to come back in 2 weeks.

I went back today, same thing happened. Why am I still feeling pain when he puts the air/water thing in after that many injections. My tongue , lips and cheek are numb . but not the tooth?

He is sending me to the hospital to have it removed?

Sorry to hear of your problem but I am pleased to hear you have been referred to someone who can treat you on an anesthetised basis rather than being told there's nothing they can do.

The antibiotics were because the dentist thought an infection was maybe interfering with the numbing. There are other possible reasons though as per the link.

It sounds like you have a good dentist. He seem to be trying to help you. Unlike my experience with local aneasthetic failure and the dentist telling me how much stress it was causing him.

I got the impression from my old dentist that there isn't any thing that can be done when the injection didn't work and that it was something to do with the nerve but that he didn't know what.

Stick with your dentist. If he is sending you to the hospital then they probabley have dentists there that can help you with this.

it's happened to me before. there can be a number of reasons. Part of it is I get so stressed out that I get all this adrenaline and then the shots don't work. 10 minutes after I leave the dentist's office, my entire face is numb, but that adrenaline surge can really hinder anesthetic.

The other thing is that anatomy varies. Your nerve may be in enough of a different place that this dentist just couldn't find it in a way that was safe and comfortable for you. Sending your for GA is a good idea - I'd much rather have a dentist who'll admit that you're better off somewhere else than have him treat you like a guinea pig. I had one like that, and it sucks to find out your nerve is too deep or off in a different direction or whatever.

It doesn't make you weird or abnormal; it's just a variation. Glad you're taking care of it.
