Internal root resorption dental implant/root canal

Hi guys, long post but really would appreciate any input

Around 4 years ago, I had my front tooth knocked out by a knee to the face, not only did I lose my tooth, the tooth next to it shifted a little and was damaged. I ended up making the worst decision of my life getting a implant in mexico, too make a long story short, I got infection, failed implant. Had socket and bone graph to prepare me for replacement implant. That went well I got my implant on front teeth two years ago and its fine despite the bone loss I had.

Around a month ago, the damaged tooth started to hurt for the 1st time, the gum tissue is red next to it. I went to the dentist and he immediately said I need another implant and referred me to a endo. I go to endo and get a cone xray (I'm sorry I don't know exact name) and she confirms I have internal/external root resorption and I may need a root canal or implant. She speaks to the other surgeon and they both come to the conclusion that the implant outweighs the good over the bad compared to root canal.

Reasons why I am told is because I may suffer bone loss near the implant ruining my esthetics since they will need to create a flap during root canal and the reflection may be a problem. Also the medicine/solution that will be used on damaged tooth could cause bone loss since it will be right next to my implant which is fine but has just enough bone at the moment.

Am I being parodied on wanting a second opinion, I really want to keep my tooth or should I just accept the facts and get another implant?

I am not a dentist so I can't give dental advice, but I can tell you that I had trauma to a front tooth that ultimately ended in the tooth needing a root canal over 20 years later. I tried to save the tooth, going through a root canal and apicoectomy, but have now (almost a year later) come to the conclusion that my tooth cannot be saved and I have to get an implant. I have a lot of bone loss from the tooth, which abscessed. I wish I would have decided to pull it and get an implant from the start. My endodontist was not ready to give up on my tooth, and I knoe she tried her hardest to save it. If she had told me to extract it from the get-go, I probably would have resisted also.

It is never a bad thing to get a second opinion, though. I would have wanted one as well if I was told an implant would be the best option at first. If nothing else, it gives you a peace of mind

Do you have external or internal root resorbtion? Makes a big difference to the prognosis for the tooth... external then the tooth has had it unless you're very lucky and have some great surgery done. Internal the prognosis is a little bit better but may be too late depending on when in the process the diagnosis was made.
