I don't know where to start. I've had bad teeth for about 10 years. All of my back teeth are severely decayed and one is broken at the gum line, there is basically nothing left. Lately it seems as if my jaw is quickly melting away. My face is way shorter, my chin got tiny and I have a double chin and fat around my jaw line. Its extremely noticeable. And all this happened within two weeks! I'm only 26 and I look 70. Is it possible that the cavities are eating my jaw bone? And what could the dentist do to build back up the bone that's lost? Also what would be my best option for treating or replacing my back teeth?

I'm sorry nobody has come along to respond. All of the dentists on the board are volunteers and other members may not have any information to offer. It seems that the only way to really know what your options are is if you are able to get to a dentist for her/him to have a look. What I can say is that many people here are surprised about all of the things that can be done to save/repair their teeth.

Hey Kristen,
I hope you're doing and feeling better.
I know it's been an awful long time since you started this thread, however if you're still on this forum, I'd like to know if there's any update about your bone loss situation.
I've just discovered that I, too, have a similar issue, so if you could share any information that would be great.
