So I recently got my 2 implant crowns placed. This dentist did things a little differently than my last two that placed crowns.

1.Strangely he didn't check margins at all or try to floss in between after he place them or before. I remember my past dentist taking quite a bit of time making sure the margins were good between the teeth. What do you think of this, just rushing through? cutting corners? or ? Seems very basic to me as a patient. I wish I had asked more questions when there but this time I had a little lorazepam and I was too chill to remember to do this but at the same time I notice right away after like hey he didn't check the margine lol

2. One thing I did ask him, because last time he put these in , he didn't clean out the area before he placed them , screw retained implant crowns. and the last dentist surely cleaned out the area very well with chlorahexadine if I'm spelling that right. Anyways I asked again about this and if he would please clean it a bit because I was concerned to make sure there would be no infections and asked why he told me last time he doesn't do this . He said "he didn't feel the need to because the mouth as Alot of Germs and it isn't going to make a difference" What do you think about this answer.. curious....

I didn't place many implant retained crowns, so not really my area of expertise. Maybe one of the younger dentists would chip in here?

I'd probably agree with him. However if it made the patient happy I'd do it anyway.

Hi,
If the crowns are screw retained as opposed to cement retained then one does not need to use floss to clean off excess cement. Personally, I would pass floss to check the crowns were not too tight.
As regards cleaning the area with chlorhexidine before fitting the crowns, some dentists do, some don't, it probably does not make any difference but as Gordon said, if a patient asked me to do it, I most certainly would oblige.

Thanks for chipping in Dr H :-)

Thank you both. This is a fairly new dentist to me and my past dentist were just quite perfectionists and very cautious in all ways so I guess I was a little spoiled . Just wanted to make sure he wasn't lacking for safety in my care and teeth. I so appreciate you both!
