Right, I've had a read a lot of the posts on here today, and they've answered a lot of my questions, but I still have a few more. This is probably goign to be a long post.
Last year I had some partially erupted wisdom teeth treated for decay with fillings. At the time, my dentist suggested that a very close eye would have to be kept on them as the likely hood was that there may be bacteria she had not been able to removed that would continue to decay the tooth unseen under the gumline.
I mentioned that I had always had sore gums at the back around the wisdom teeth, which raised further frowns and the suggestion that maybe i'd need to face having them removed. So in the end i said, lets just give them a chance with the fillings and see what happens.
Anyway, in the last few weeks I've noticed a faint nasty taste in my mouth, and started to get conscious that my breath is rough. This weekend I got an ulcer in the side of my mouth, and when I opened it to take a good look, I noticed that there was piece of tooth poking through from under the gum that I hadn't noticed before, and it was really manky looking, quite dark, heading towards black. The gum around there looked a bit lighter and was sore. I got a cotten bud and took a gentle swab. The moisture it picked up from there was really foul smelling, like really sour milk. Now all I can taste is that nasty effluent. Effluent, yes, that is a nice word. And my jaw is sore.
I have a bit of a mania about my teeth. In the past I convinced a dentist to put white filling on my front teeth because I thought the enamel was falling off. Suddenly I've got visions of my teeth all falling out suddenly of peridontitis. I booked an appointment with the dentist, and I'm convinced the dentist will recommend they are all taken out. I think that will be the right move, as I am 26, and the sooner it is done the better. I am really scared of nerve damage in my face, as my livelihood depends on my clear diction and full range of facial expression, and I'm a songwriter on the side and a keen singer. I play a few wind instruments as well.
Basically I'm now completely full of dread, and I've got to wait till 31st of October to see the dentist, and then I've got to find a clinic to do it as soon as possible.
What is more, I've just started seeing a lovely girl, we are supposed to be going away this weekend, and I've suddenly lost all confidence in my mouth, which isn't going to do my "magic moments" much good! Can't get this taste out of my mouth!!!
I've not even started to think about the actual operation...
Just panic!
Someone! Ease my fears!!!!
