Hi everyone!
I'm new here and I've recently started to face my fear of dentistry...to the point that I've gotten all of my upper teeth that needed work done. However, tomorrow I am scheduled to have my lower teeth worked on and I am PETRIFIED. The dentist (who has always made it a point to be honest with me--so I trust him) said that the nerve block will probably hurt about 75% more than the upper injections. What has been everyone's experience with this? I'm so scared of needles and injections!

to the forum.
I don't really know why one area would hurt more than another ....my dentist said that depending on whether or not there is a lot of tissue at the injection site will make an injection more or less comfortable because it's the tissue trauma from the medication being injected that is actually painful but it's possible to work around that issue with topical numbing solutions, injecting slowly, and injecting in several increments.
I just left my appointment and everything went great!! I've almost fully regained all my feeling and the pain from the shot didn't hurt that much at all (It hurts more now that it's over haha but only when I open my mouth too wide). What a relief!! Thank you all for your support!
Glad it all well well for you x
