Numbing for Cleaning

I haven’t been to the dentist in 10 years. I went for the first time a few weeks ago. I’m going back for a cleaning next week. My understanding is that a regular cleaning but the dentist said that he ordered numbing for the appointment. Does this mean that they will numb my whole mouth with novocaine? Or will they use numbing gel? I just want to know what to expect. Thanks!

Unfortunately there's absolutely no way for anyone but your dentist to know the answer. Why don't you phone or e-mail and ask them?
