hello all,
i know this is a U.S. site but we have nothing like this in Aus.

About ten ten years ago I had a rct(root canal therapy) on two teeth. At the time being young and dumb I did not get perm crowns put on. So in time they broke and the tooth did too. Fast forward five years and one of them started to hurt so I went to dentist to get it pulled. The dentist said he could save it to my amazement and he did. There was slight pain as it was a large filling. It kinda subsided and I went with fill crown option. It's been about three months and Im getting pain between the two crowned teeth. I've been back and they have shaved a bit off and said a bit of cament left over which they got rid off

the pain is still there and he said put some chlorofluor gel on it and come back in three weeks. Does that sound right?

somethint I noticed just the other day is it seems as if my bite has changed as seems to be hitting the tooth that had the crown first now.

Oh, X-rays show no sign of infection and he had done three over the three months to check

thought I'd add. I really love my dentist, he has taken away my fears of dentist and I've had fillings replaced with no issues and plan on more work with him.

Hi :welcome: to the forum.

I am in the UK but my answer would be the same to anyone in any country. Firstly I am not a dentist so this is just based on my own experience.

Has your dentist shown you how to clean around the crowns properly. I have had some for years and at no time has a dentist actually shown me how to floss around the crown. I have always been ocd about my dental hygiene and couldn't understand when the dentist I see now said I was missing a bit at the back of my crown. She told me to take my floss in and actually flossed the tooth so that I could feel myself where I was going wrong. It was a light bulb moment, I have never flossed it properly but I thought I had been. I am saying this because the gum was so sore where I was missing it and I thought it was a bit of left over cement but no it was down to me.

If the bite feels wrong then keep going until it feels right it only needs to be out a little bit to cause pain and discomfort. :butterfly:

The dentist has actually shown me how. That was a fun lesson. It might be me but seems like my bite has changed as well. Is that possible?

no pain while eating. Only a little while brushing as the gum is tender between the teeth. Hot or cold is fine.

By the way this is a U.K. site not a USA site because everyone in the USA loves to have regular dental care which only consists of cleaning teeth, bleaching their teeth, getting braces, and veneers.:giggle:

Oops. So do you have any idea what my issue could be?

Several possibilities
1. Cracked root
2. Bacterial contamination in the canals that occurred when the old filling was lost
3. General failure of the root canal

Thanks for the reply and oh joy, sounds like one of the worst possible news I could want.

The weird thing is, when I floss, the pain is not near one tooth but rather the middle.
