Please help - fearing my insurance company will not pay for an expensive implant

My dentist prescribed an implant. My dental insurance says that they will only pay the "lowest cost alternate benefit." Does this mean reimbursement based upon the equivalent of a fixed bridge, partial denture or less?

depends on your insurance companies opinion of the 'benefit' of a denture.
The dentists view may hold some weight if, for example, they say a denture or bridge is not appropriate.
Contact the insurance company and ask what evidence they require in reaching a decision.
