Please help me - iv sedation teeth getting taken out

Hi im el im 14.

On , most likely, Monday, i am getting teeth taken out. For the procedure im having iv sedation
and i am absolutely terrified . How long does the needle in the hand hurt for?? Also will i be loopy
or tired?
i am sooo scared of saying somethinf embarassing or personal in front of my mother. The dentist told
me i wont be loopy, however i dont really know if she was just lying to make me feel better. Also she
then went on to say that i cant go online afterwards in case i embarass myself...!!??? So im assuming its a lie.

i am so scared. How will i act? Will it hurt? Im more bothered about the injection in my hand than my mouth
as i have has a needle in my mouth before which only hurt for a few seconds.

please answer asap. Be honest. And any advice??

I can tell you about my awesome experience with IV sedation and extraction if it helps?

I had extraction for the first time in December - just a few weeks ago. I don't mind needles but I can tell you that it was *literally* just a pinch and then it's all done. When they inject the fun juice, the only thing you'll feel is awesome-ness and most likely nothing until recovery...most people have a hard, deep sleep while they do their work. I did. You will too.

People react to anesthesia differently - I always wake up giddy like an idiot and happy. My family member who drove me home said I talked non stop and was laughing. I remember none of that. I too worried I'd say something nasty to the staff, Oral Surgeon (because I was NOT happy about having a tooth removed), but according to the awesome staff at my follow up, I said nothing crazy.

I was loopy, I vaguely remember the ride home and being in recovery room at the clinic. I took pain meds at home after a light meal and slept for a few hours. Woke up later feeling sleepy, giddy, but not really silly anymore.

For me, it was a happy experience. And I've had IV sedation prior to that extraction for a few medical procedures. Again, always happy experiences (as happy as can be).

Follow ALL Pre-Op instructions with regards to medications, eating and drinking prior to your appointment. Remember that your Dentist or Oral Surgeon does these procedures every day and he/she is very experienced. Your job is to follow all instructions and HEAL.

It might be a great idea to rent a few movies to watch when you get home. You'll probably sleep on and off that afternoon, but it's the perfect excuse to get caught up on your fave series or zone out with Netflix all day.

It's okay to feel scared, but don't worry too much. The needle feels kind of like a shot but in your hand. In fact mine hurt less than some shots I've had before. I was under instantly and did not wake up until it was over. My guess is that your mouth will be full with gauze so if you do say anything it will be pretty mumbled I was completely aware of everything going on after I woke up so I have a feeling you'll be fine. Try to take it easy and follow the doctor's instructions and you'll be alright.
