Hi, I’m sat here panicking about a premolar extraction I’m getting on Tuesday. I’m 42 and have really bad anxiety and have had a fear of dentists from a young age.

I’m getting braces soon and need an upper premolar removed. I have a molar missing on the opposite side of where I’m having this premolar removed. The molar that is missing was removed twenty years ago after it broke. My then dentist couldn’t remove it on the first try, so I had to go back 2 weeks later to have it cut out.

I’m just writing here because I’m really scared. I’ll be having this tooth removed with an oral surgeon at the dentist who is doing my braces. I’m worried I’ll pass out or be sick or something from anxiety. I’m scared of blood too.

I need the braces because I have an overbite which really affects how I eat and I can’t close my lips properly.

I’m just scared about how long it will take to come out, and blood.

Not seeing any questions, is there something you want to ask?
Removing a tooth takes about 30 seconds or less usually.

Hi Gordon, thank you for your reply. Apologies for the rambling post. You’ve answered my question on how long it takes to actually pull the tooth out. I think I’m so nervous I don’t actually know myself what I’m really asking, I’m just so scared.
