Hello-

I just had a white composite filling done on Saturday. The dentist said it was a deep
filling, close to the nerve. He had said that the nerve had pushed itself away to try and avoid the decay. He put some medicine in it, and a liner. Said that there's a chance it become absessed, and if so, then I get a trip to the oral surgeon to get a root canel or extraction. Is there a chance that I won't need this? How long after the filling do I wait to see if I am in the clear of that or not? I am worried to death over it. I have been a dental phobic for so long, and stayed away from dental treatment because of it. This year I finally got the nerve up to go, and have had 4 fillings done now, with 1 more to go. Now that there's talk of all this being close to the nerve and possible root canel, I am really paranoid every minute since! I just want to know, when I can start breathing easy and not play the waiting game wondering if it's going to start hurting, etc... Thanks!

I take it you haven't been in agony since the local wore off on Saturday? In which case you're pretty much out of the woods then [smiley=jumping.gif]

No, I haven't had any problems with the tooth since the local wore off ... thank goodness! Thanks for your reply :)
