recently removed crown and bleeding out of root

Hello everyone, I recently had my old crown removed because it fit poorly, had margins and caused food to get stuck between the crown and gums. At first when I got the crown it kept on falling out (no bleeding) so the dentist replaced the post with a plastic one. After going to another dentist he told me I would keep on having problems if I did not replace it soon. The new dentist finally removed the old crown with the post. He told me it fell out when he was cutting it but I remember him pulling a little hard. Once he removed it only a hole was left where the post was in and it started bleeding. He only said that since it's bleeding then it means I have a fractured tooth and therefore I have to get it extracted. He also said that the old dentist must have tried to cover it up - however, I did not feel any discomfort or pain prior to this or any mention of a fracture by anyone else (saw bunch of endo's, dds, etc.). Now I feel some pressure and discomfort that comes and goes. The tooth was root canal treated before I got the crown 5 or so years ago. The dentist also did not take any x-rays after telling me this. I already have to extract one tooth and just can't think of the costs if I have to pull another and get an implant (these teeth are all in the front & I'm only in my 20's). So, my question is - does bleeding from the root signify a fractured root/tooth and therefore a definite extraction? Or can it possibly be something else? I will be going to a new endo this week but this makes me very upset and just wanted to hear other opinions or possibly similar situations. Thank you.

Noticed that you posted this last night, and didn't want to leave you 'hanging' thinking no one was responding to you, and also, to you.

I am not a dentist, and cannot answer your question unfortunately, but I am sure that one of our qualified's will try and help. I do not know where you are based, but this weekend in the UK is a bank holiday weekend, and so there may not be as much activity on here because of that.

I truly hope that you get your teeth sorted out with the least amount of upset for you.

It's a bit hard to be specific without seeing you. The causes for the bleeding are either a fractured root or else the gum is so inflamed with the food packing into it that you've got some gingivitis, which also causes bleeding.

If it's painful when you press on the root then it sounds more likely to be a root fracture. If that's the case then the tooth is pretty well knackered unfortunately.
