[smiley=hiding.gif] Hello everyone. I must be at the dentist in an hour for a root canal in my front tooth. I am freaking out right now. I am so scared og the pain and also I don't want my throat to get numb, if that happens I will have a panic attack!! Can someone please give me some support before I go?

Thanks so much :-X

Hello

I have panic attacks , I always try to breath in and breath out longer and if you feel a bit sicky if you go three fingers length on your pulse line from the wrist and put pressure there it can help you stop feeling sick , which is sometimes what happens to me when i feel panicky

Tell the dentist how you are feeling before you start , then if you do feel panic and anxious you can raise your hand and stop untill you feel a bit more in control

Good luck xx
Let us know how you do

You'll be fine = I had one done 15-odd years ago, and the worst part was holding my mouth open for the required length of time.. They protect the rest of your mouth by using a dental dam (piece of rubber/latex that isolated the tooth to be worked on from the rest of your mouth) The dam and the mouth hanging open are the WORST parts of the procedure. Then your jaw is sore for a while after. Root canals likely have had improvements in the 15 years since I had mine done, so they may be even easier.

If I *KNEW* beyond a doubt that an RTC this time would be the same as last time, I'd not be hesitant about getting it done.

I'll be thinking about you, sending some good-vibes your way

Didnt log in in time to wish you well for your appointment, and I guess as I am typing this you are sitting in the dentist chair. So, let me instead be the first to congratulate you on getting the job done. Do hope all went well and look forward to your updating us on your return. [smiley=grouphug.gif]
