I had my lower left wisdom tooth and molar next to it cut out 17 days ago. The extraction areas don't hurt, it's my jaw, ear, arm and temple, all on the left side that are in severe pain. I have been back to the dentist twice and had more x-rays done and every thing looks normal. I have been taking antibiotics and pain killers with no relief at all. Is this normal? I am sooo tired of taking pills and dealing with this pain that I am straight up depressed. I can't believe this is normal. What are the possibe reasons for this? thanks

First, I'm sorry you are in pain. I've been there. I had a bottom left side molar extracted which left me in severe pain in my jaw, gumline and teeth. I too went back to the oral surgeon to find out what was wrong. He told me everything looked fine and that is was probably an over active nerve that got bruised during extraction. The pain lasted three years and went away . I was taking Amitriptyline for the pain. I'm not saying that's what's wrong but if it doesn't get better you may want to look into nerve pain.
