Shadow showing on X-Ray, under Crown

Hello all

I am Autistic so Please bear with Me.

I had X-Rays taken before the Holidays and on One Tooth, Bottom Back Right, a Shadow was seen, under the Partial Crown.

My Dentist explained that she would Remove the Crown, Clean any Decay found then do a New Mould for a Full Crown and get me back in a Couple of Weeks to Fit.

I was relatively fine with this, however. right at the end She added 'If I can Save the Tooth', this has me terrified, being Autistic there is no way that I could tolerate the Tooth Extraction, I can barely tolerate Fillings.

Due to my Autism, I struggle, badly, with the Holidays so they Scheduled an Appointment for this Thursday, 20 February.

Needless to say, I am Panicking.

Can anyone Please offer some reassurances?

I think the dentist is just trying to cover herself it doesn't sound from the treatment plan she's proposing that there is any doubt that the tooth will be saved, but I suppose she wants to prepare you if something unforeseen were to happen, unfortunately she's had the opposite effect of what she wanted!

I Hope that is the case, I am Terrified of attending the Appointment Tomorrow but I will, I will just have to Force myself to get there

Hello

I have just got back from my Appointment.

I discussed things with my Dentist and explained that if it comes to me having to have the Tooth Extracted, that, given my Autism I would not be able to tolerate the Extraction with just a Local Anaesthetic.

When I had Cataract Surgery, I had to have Full Anaesthetic and the same will be required here.

My Dentist said that when / if the Time comes that I need an Extraction then I can be Referred for the Full Anaesthetic, however, given that the Crown has yet to be removed and the Tooth Examined it is not known what the Issue may be and given that I have no Pain or any other Issues with that Tooth she will not do anything with it at this Time..

All she did Today was a Checkup, again, and a Clean of the Back of the Bottom Teeth which have been annoying me since they were Cleaned at my Last Appointment in November.

She will do another X-Ray in 18 Months, see how things are and go from there.

I am back in September for another Checkup.
