Hello all! I have a question for you all. I had a root canal done on my lower right side first molar ( Not sure what is the correct term for it) almost 10 years ago and today the dang thing cracked in half. Why does it hurt so bad? I thought a root canal took out the nerve? What will my dentist most likely do? Thank you in advance <3

A tooth that has a root canal is very weak due to the amount of tooth structure missing. They generally need a crown on them in order to protect them long term. If they crack before getting a crown on them, they usually have to be extracted. The pain comes from the ligament around the tooth. The tooth flexes slightly when there is any pressure on it and this can hurt quite a bit even though there is no nerve inside the tooth.
