I've just come back from the dentist after getting through a big old lower jaw filling. My specific problem is being unable to swallow in the head-down posture, especially when my mouth is full of various clamps. This really freaks me out. My current dentist is very understanding and allows frequent rests, and I can get through most standard things once I make myself go to the appointments.
Having just discovered this forum, I have an observation and 2 questions
The observations is that with the right dentist and enough short rests this specific problem doesnt stop normal treatment. But the accomodations are needed, and we should remember this makes appointments longer and is an indirect cost to the dentist.
The questions
1. Any tips for controlling the general anxiety, which for me starts the day before the appointment and makes that pretty much a wasted day
2. A bit obscure, but is there any link between difficulty swallowing and weight. I'm pretty obese. I've been losing some this year but not enough yet to make huge differences. But this might be another carrot to keep losing.
