Strange gum and tooth feeling around one side of my mouth after root canal?

I had my first root canal done 2 days ago. It went fine (half way back on top left, completed in one visit), the dentist said the nerve was dead when he drilled it, an x ray was taken half way through and the dentist said there was blackening on it around the root that should go away by itself.

The tooth is now a lot better, but my gums around it feel slightly strange, perhaps swollen, (only at the very top of my gums, where they meet the skin/flesh at side of my mouth). This extends right round to my front two teeth, causing them to feel slightly strange, especially when drinking. There is one particularly sensitive bit above the filled tooth, which might be an injection site.

The pain is not bad, but I’m concerned about how far this spreads and my front teeth feeling odd.

Is this normal after two days? Will it go away by itself?

As long as this is normal it is fine, I'm just surprised and slightly concerned that teeth/gums so far away from the root filling feel strange.
